Hyderabad : A high-level German delegation Saturday signed three agreements with the University of Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for collaboration in the field of biotechnology.
Three Letters of Intents (LoIs) were signed in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at his office here.
The LoIs were signed by the University of Hyderabad and BioM Biotech Cluster Development, Technologiepark Heidelberg GmbH and BioTOP Berlin-Brandenburg, Germany.
“The LoIs are agreements to explore the possibilities of collaboration in the fields of biotechnology, management, technology transfer, knowledge creation and innovation leading to incubation and production and to jointly initiate proposals in frontier and inter disciplinary areas and also extend the necessary cooperation in setting up of the knowledge and innovation park being jointly set up at the University of Hyderabad by APIIC and University of Hyderabad,” said a statement from the chief minister’s office.
Both the parties will promote and cooperate in academic exchange of in broad areas of mutual interest, research and development collaboration, training and teaching and participation in national and international symposia.
The chief minister said that there are immense opportunities for both the countries to promote biotechnology and India and in particular Andhra Pradesh has many research institutions and knowledge parks in biotechnology. He hoped that the German entrepreneurs would set up their centres in Andhra Pradesh soon.
