Islamabad : Village guards killed at least thirteen robbers in a shootout in Pakistan s Punjab province Sunday, police said.
The robbers were killed in village 9-L of Sahiwal district in the wee hours.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Malik Daud said that more than 20 armed dacoits entered the village with the purpose of looting.
Guards on duty on the rooftop of the village elder, Sardar Nazir, warned them to flee. On resistance, thirteen of them were killed while others fled.
A heavy contingent of police arrived in the village later.
