Tehran : Mass demonstrations were organised Monday across Iran to mark the 29th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic revolution in the country, official IRNA news agency reported.
In Tehran, thousands of people took to the streets in seven different places to show solidarity with the government.
Chanting standard slogans such as “Death to America,” “Death of Israel” and “Nuclear energy is our undisputable right,” the crowd walked towards Azadi Square in western Tehran where President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad joined them.
Judiciary chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi also joined the rally.
The Islamic country considers the annual rally, which is also known as Bahaman 22 rally, as a sign of people’s resistance against the West, especially the US, and their willingness to continue their independent path.
