Russia, India Sign Cooperation Pacts

New Delhi : Russia and India signed two cooperation accords on Tuesday to boost bilateral and cultural cooperation and build four nuclear reactors in India’s Tamil Nadu State.

Today’s talks between Russian Prime Minister Victor A. Zubkov and Indian PM Manmohan Singh swept a broad agenda of bilateral, regional and global issues.

To expand nuclear exchange they completed an accord to be signed as soon as India get the IAEA license, which negotiations are already in motion in Vienna.

After the talks, Zubkov and Singh presided over signing of an agreement for police co-operation to fight drug traffic, contraband, customs violations and to boost data exchange.

The parties confirmed a wish to advance defense relations which they consider a pillar of strategic association, so they will end the dispute on the costs to modernize the Admiral Gorshkov carrier, said Singh. Russia is India’s top logistics supplier.

Both countries also seek ways to expand trade from $4 billion to $10 billion by 2010.
