Chandigarh : Computer education has been made compulsory in all colleges in Haryana to help students find jobs, the state government announced Wednesday.
Teaching of computers will have to be done in all study disciplines in colleges and universities, a state government spokesman said here. This was decided at a meeting of top academicians and officials with Haryana Governor A.R. Kidwai here Wednesday.
Kurukshetra University has been asked to work out the structure of a six-month computer course. The new course will be launched from the coming academic session in July.
The meeting also decided to increase seats in undergraduate and postgraduate job-oriented courses in streams like commerce, economics, computers and business administration.
It was decided to persuade students to opt for job-oriented courses instead of seeking simple degree in arts after which getting jobs was not easy.
