A survey conducted by Globe Scan for bbcurdu.com says that 63 percent Pakistanis want sacked Chaudhry’s status to be restored by the new parliament and a “majority” are also demanding Musharraf’s resignation.

Those calling for Musharraf’s resignation are of the view that this can improve the political and security situation in the country.

According to the survey, 39 percent of Pakistanis believe that security agencies were involved in the murder of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Only 16 percent respondents agree with the government claim that the Taliban or the Al Qaeda was behind Bhutto’s assassination.

Interestingly, 46 percent of the respondents said the forthcoming elections would be transparent whereas 44 percent said that they would be rigged in favour of Musharraf’s allied party – Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q).

Though a majority thinks the security situation will improve in the post-Musharraf era, 25 percent of respondents feared that security situation could worsen if he resigns now.

According to bbcurdu.com that funded the exercise, the survey was conducted on Jan 27 and 28 in all the four provinces of the country.
