New Delhi : US defence major Raytheon Company intends to foster a long-term relationship with India’s defence establishment by highlighting its commitment to mission support, mission assurance and customer focused marketing, the company says.
Toward this, Raytheon will have a major presence at the DEFEXPO-2008 international defence exposition here Feb 16-19.
“As a global technology leader, Raytheon offers a variety of products and services to meet India’s military and commercial needs,” Raytheon Asia president Walter Doran said in a statement.
“Our portfolio is broad and it fits nicely with India’s long-term plans for updating its defence capabilities in areas including the fighter competition, air and missile defence, space and beyond,” Doran, a retired US Navy vice-admiral, added.
“India is a key emerging market for us in Asia and we believe our advanced technology capabilities can be tailored to support India’s unique needs in coming years,” he maintained.
Ahead of DEFEXPO, Raytheon served as lead sponsor of the Air Power India 2008 conference here Feb 13-14. The conference theme was “Shaping India’s Air and Space Power in the 21st Century”.
On Tuesday, Raytheon inked a pack with an Indian firm to forge strategic alignments that jointly develop and provide superior communications technology for India’s military forces.
The pact with Precision Electronics Limited (PEL) “represents another step towards establishing a strong collaborative working relationship, encouraging joint pursuit of emerging business opportunities, and providing for in-country production, offset and long-term support”, the Raytheon statement said.
“This agreement will pave the way for more exchanges of communications technology and business know-how between India and Raytheon,” it added, without revealing financial details.
