Peshawar : A soldier was killed and a policeman injured when unidentified men attacked a check post in the outskirts of northwestern city of Peshawar, police said on Friday.
Police said that `miscreants’ used heavy weapons to attack the check post of paramilitary forces at Mitaney, a town near the restive troubled Darra Adam Khel tribal region late last night.
There was no claim of responsibility of the attack.
It was the first attack on security check post after the last month operation against the Taliban in Darra Adam Khel.
Rockets were fired at a tunnel near Darra Adam Khel.
The authorities close the runnel for traffic for some time.
In another incident a rocket hit a government-run hospital in tribal Kheyber Agency last night, causing partial damage a ward.
It was the fourth attack on the hospital in few months.
A bomb blast rocked the office of medical superintendent of the same hospital two days ago.
No one was hurt in the attack.
Some 200 doctors and medical staff of the hospital went on strike staged a demonstration against the attack on Friday.
Vice President of the tribal paramedical association Fazal ur Rehman demanded halt to the attacks on hospital.
