Moscow : Russian President Vladimir Putin favored Serbia”s territorial integrity and described the US and European double standards on Kosovo”s independence as shameful.
“I don”t want say anything that would offend anyone, but for 40 years northern Cyprus has practically had independence,” Putin told 1,364 reporters, including 200 foreign correspondents, on Wednesday.
“Why aren”t you recognizing that? Are you not ashamed, you Europeans, treating the same problems with double standards in different regions of the world?” Putin asked.
He added that Russia will not act symmetrically of this happens. If someone makes bad decisions, in contradiction with law, it doesn”t mean that we will act likewise, he noted.
However, Russia will perceive that decision as a sign, he said.
We will react to that decision by defending our interests, noted the Russian president, who ruled out a hypothetical cut in oil supplies to the European Union.
