New Delhi, Feb 17 (IANS) The sun is sharp during daytime and the nights less cold in the national capital region and in the northern plains of the country. For once, people are shedding their heavy woolens – and hoping this is the end of the winter.
Temperatures in Delhi and the northern plains have been steadily rising in the past few days and it rose a couple of notches Sunday.
The Met Office said that the minimum temperature in the national capital was 11.7 degrees Celsius against 9.5 degrees Saturday.
The maximum temperature on Saturday was 26.6 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal. The Met Office has forecast a clear sky and a pleasant weather for Monday.
The capital has been reeling under severe cold wave for over a month with the season’s lowest recorded at 1.9 degrees Celsius Jan 2, while the lowest temperature this month was 2.9 degrees Feb 2.
The Met Office has forecast little change in the temperature pattern across the northern plains for the next two days till Tuesday, and has said that mercury could further rise afterwards.
The lowest minimum temperature in the plains was 4.5 degrees Celsius recorded at Amritsar in Punjab.
According to the weatherman, most of the country would remain dry but parts of West Bengal, Bihar, Kerala and Arunachal Pradesh might get isolated rains.
