Iran supports Muslim women further presence at int’l scenes: FM

Tehran : Iran supports further presence of Muslim women at international scenes, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Monday.

Addressing opening session of an international conference on Muslim Women, Mottaki said Muslim women should play a key role in various scientific and technical fields.

He stressed the need for promoting Muslim women status in all Islamic countries.

Referring to the status of Iranian women, Mottaki said Iranian women “play major role in both governmental and non-governmental organizations.”

He said women played a dynamic role in Iran shouldering various responsibilities in different social fields.

Referring to the world order, Mottaki said that the current world order based on unilateralism and hegemony is no longer an effective management.

The international conference on Muslim Women began with a message by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Monday.

The two-day gathering is attended by 50 foreign scholars from 50 countries as well as 800 Iranian scholars and dignitaries.
