Lahore : Caretaker Punjab Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Mahmood Sheikh, felicitated the nation and leaders of all political parties on holding of national elections, and observed that the caretaker set-up had fulfilled its promise of holding free and fair elections.
In a statement issued here Tuesday, he said that the results will definitely pave the way for strengthening of democratic norms in the country.
The minister maintained that the elections 2008 were most transparent and fair and the caretakers remained completely neutral and impartial in the process.
The holding of transparent elections is best answer to any previous denigration on the caretakers, he said, adding that the caretakers worked diligently to ensure transparency.
He felicitated the winning candidates and hoped that they will come up to the expectations of their voters, work to strengthen democracy in Pakistan. He also hoped the next government will work with sincerity to serve the nation.
