IPL auction is high drama: former board chief

Mumbai : Former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Inderjit Singh Bindra termed Wednesday’s auction of the players for the Indian Premier League (IPL) as high drama and wished it could be telecast live.

“I can tell you in my career spanning over two decades as a BCCI official, I have never seen anything so riveting and exciting like the auction here,” said Bindra, now a top official of the BCCI and a supporter of the IPL.

Bindra, who was present during the auction at Oberoi Hilton, added: “You could have seen there was high drama inside during the auctioning. I wish it could have been telecast live.”

With some of the big names in world cricket being bought for whopping figures, Bindra maintained that market is determining the price of the cricketers. “This is what free economy is all about,” he said.
