Kuwait : Two Indian companies have signed two contracts worth KD 120.13 million with the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) and Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), the Indian ambassador in Kuwait said here.
Under the first contract with the KNPC worth KD 117.89 million (USD 421 million), the Indian Larsen and Toubro Limited (L and T) will manufacture and supply 22 equipment for breaking and removing air sulfuric sediments, he told a news conference Tuesday.
Such equipment will be used by the KNPC in the production of clean fuel by 2020, he said, terming the contract as the largest of its kind in the world.
The Indian company clinched a contract worth KD 35 million with the Kuwait Aviation Fuelling Company (KAFCO) a couple of years back. It is also currently carrying out projects in Kuwait, he said.
Under the second contract worth KD 2.23 million with the KOC, the Bridge and Groove company will make a reservoir for dry oil, and demolish two existing reservoirs. It will also install new pipelines worth KD 2.23 million (USD 44.8 million) as per the 15-month contract, the Indian ambassador added.
He expected that the conclusion of the two contracts would lead to a further development of economic relations between India and Kuwait, noting that such an achievement was the fruit of a visit paid to India by the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in 2006.
