Amritsar : The state police Thursday recovered 23 grenades, most of them live, from a drain on the outskirts of the Sikh holy city of Amritsar.
The grenades, which are of the HE-36 variety that is used commonly by the Indian Army, were found dumped in the drain near the Verka bypass.
The police had recovered five grenades from Gumtala area of this city Monday.
Though the police were investigating the source of these grenades, they were not ruling out these might have been stolen or accidentally fallen from an army vehicle. An army firing range is located near the spot where the grenades were found.
