Over 25,000 north Indians move from Maharashtra state under fear of violence

NEW DELHI, Feb 24 (APP): Over 25, 000 north Indians have moved out of Maharashtra state under fear of violence triggered by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena led by Raj Thackeray against migrants from northern states.
Media reports quoting official estimates said over 25,000 unskilled workers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar left Pune which have adversely affected many on-going projects of the construction industry.

At present, the city is under the grip of rumours that a fresh spate of violence in Maharashtra is feared on Feb. 25, forcing the migrant labourers to take North-bound trains and buses.

The authorities in the state have held meetings with representatives of the people to control the situation.

The Ministers and local political leaders have reached the Pune railway station for stopping the migrants boarding the trains with their family members, media sources said.
