Islamabad : Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) after forming the government in centre and provinces would try its best to have working relationship with President Pervez Musharraf, PPP leader Senator Enver Baig said Sunday.Talking to BBC TV, he said confrontational approach should be done away with and everybody should play its role for progress and prosperity of the country.
He said parliament will take decisions in accordance with the wishes of the people and their problems would be resolved. Political parties will have to work for country’s prosperity otherwise they would be wipedout in next elections.
Vowing to eliminate terrorism and extremism through dialogue he said negotiations are best tool to tackle the menace. PPP ANP coalition partners have very good influence in northern belt of the country, he added.
He said the troubled area people would be engaged politically, economically and socially. The problem of suicide bombings and militancy would be settled by the political party through dialogue, he added.
He said elections have proved to the world that Pakistan is very moderate country. Religious political parties having strength of more than 50 seats in previous national assembly have now been reduced to only 3 in the current parliament, he said.
Regarding cases against Zardari he said despite being in jail for nine years, no case against PPP chairman Asif Zardari has been proved. As many as 6 cases have been dismissed by the courts, he added.
Regarding Pakistan’s nuclear assets he said, these are 200 percent safe. Pakistan Army is capable to handle its assets and international community should not worry in this regard, he added.
