Lucknow : Close on the heels of its political rivals, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing to make inroads into the poverty-ridden Bundelkhand region of southern Uttar Pradesh.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chieftain Mulayam Singh Yadav and Chief Minister Mayawati have already visited the region plagued by starvation deaths.
Now, state BJP chief Raj Nath Singh is scheduled to undertake a three-day tour of Bundelkhand from March 3, party spokesman Hriday Narain Dikshit told IANS Monday.
“The Congress, Samajwadi Party as well as Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have been playing politics on the dead bodies of helpless farmers who were driven to end their lives in Bundelkhand, but we believe in business,” Dixit said.
“All that these three parties have done is to blame one another. Even the ruling BSP government has tried to pass the buck to the centre without actually providing any relief to the harried people of the region.
“But BJP president Raj Nath Singh will actually reach out to the masses by going down deep into the villages and interacting with the affected people,” he said.
Singh will address a series of public meetings in Chitrakoot, Orai and Lalitpur districts.
