Guangzhou (China) : A 44-year-old woman who was suspected of having bird flu died Monday in the southern province of Guangdong in China, the provincial health department said.
The woman was diagnosed as having pneumonia of unknown type and died at 9:25 a.m. after all treatment measures failed, it said.
The woman, a migrant worker, was found to have had contact with poultry that had died of bird flu. She had developed symptoms of fever and a cough since Feb 16 and was hospitalised last Friday in Haifeng county of Shanwei city in south China.
