New Delhi : All India Tennis Association’s (AITA) crucial executive committee meeting to discuss the revolt by Davis Cup team against captain Leander Paes will be held Thursday.
“The AITA Executive Committee will be meeting tomorrow,” an AITA press release said.
Mahesh Bhupathi Prakash Amritraj, Rohan Bopanna, and Karan Rastogi, had dashed off a letter to AITA saying they are not ready to play under the current captain Leander Paes that created a flutter in the tennis circle.
AITA General Secretary Anil Khanna has already come out in support of Paes while Rastogi backed out after signing the letter saying he has issues with Paes but is ready to play under him.
Paes had not been in the best of relations with his teammates during the tie against Uzbekistan recently. Paes had questioned the professionalism of Amritraj after the latter contradicted his captain and said he was fit for the singles match on the first day but was not consulted.
Bhupathi later came out in support of Amritraj, which further fuelled the controversy.
