Islamabad : President of former ruling party Thursday warned the political parties of next government from curtailing Presidents powers saying the move will trigger crisis in the country.
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain of pro-Musharraf Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) talking to media said that the removal of Article 58-2 (B) from constitution would cause crisis in the country.
His comments came as Nawaz Sharif, leader of anti-Musharraf Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), has repeatedly asked President Musharraf to resign and asked to omit the Article 58-2(b) from the constitution.
PML-N and Benazir Bhuttos Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) were the two main winners of Feb 18th elections and have announced to form national consensus government in the center.
PPP has announced its willingness to work with Musharraf but PML-N remains anti-Musharraf and said that it will not sit in the cabinet as it will require oath-taking under amended constitution from President Musharraf.
Musharraf ousted Nawaz Sharifs government in a bloodless coup in 1999 and sent him into an exile.
The Article 58-2(B) empowers the President to dissolve the National Assembly if a situation arises in which the Federation cannot be carried on in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and an appeal to the electorate is necessary.
