Tehran : Thirteen convicts, including one woman, were executed in Iran, the daily Iran reported Thursday.
Eight convicts, including a serial killer and a woman who reportedly had killed her husband for infidelity, were hanged Wednesday in Evin prison in the capital Tehran.
Five other convicts, all drug-traffickers, were hanged Wednesday in Qom, south of Tehran, and in Zahedan, in south-eastern Iran.
All 13 were executed after the country’s Supreme Court confirmed their initial death sentences.
More than 290 convicts were executed in Iran last year, many in public.
Murder, rape, armed robbery and drug trafficking of quantities in excess of five kilograms are among the crimes punishable by death in Iran.
