Kabul : One US soldier died, and another two were injured when an explosive device detonated in their vehicle in the Afghan province of Khost, Pentagon sources reported Thursday.
The incident took place Wednesday, and the two wounded soldiers were taken to a US base to receive medical treatment.
In the meantime, the Afghan interior ministry reported that about 200 alleged rebels died in clashes with the army during the occupation of the southern locality of Musa Qala.
According to army spokesman, Brigadier General Mohammad Zahir Azimi, there are 17 commanders among the alleged rebel casualties.
The Afghan army supported by NATO and US troops, re-conquered Musa Qala on December 10, after having been occupied by the insurgency for ten months.
