Gaza : One Palestinian militant was killed and three others wounded on Saturday night in an Israeli artillery shelling on the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun, paramedics and witnesses said.
The witnesses said that a group of militants were launching homemade rockets from Beit Hanoun into the southern Israeli town of Sderout.
Paramedics said that they picked up the body of a Palestinian, and three others wounded right after the Israeli artillery strike, adding that they were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Earlier on Saturday, the armed wing of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) claimed responsibility for launching eight homemade rockets from northern Gaza into Sderout.
The group said in a press release that the rockets were fired in revenge for what it termed “the daily criminal attacks carried out by the Zionists against our people,” adding, “attacks and resistance would never stop.”
Israeli Radio quoted medical sources as saying that seven Israeli residents of Sderout were injured, adding that seven rockets hit the town and caused severe damage to several homes in the town.
