Washington, Jan 8 (Prensa Latina) US President George W. Bush begins a Middle East leverage tour Tuesday, trying to curry support for pressure against the Iranian nuclear program, which Teheran affirms has civil goals.
According to Bush, he will take a message of peace for Israelis and Palestinians, but will also promote the creation of a so called common front against Iran’s nuclear activities, which he labelled as threatening.
In a radio address before leaving, the US president said he is hopeful for the future in the Levant, and added his government is fully committed to helping Israelis and Palestinians overcome the deadlocked peacemaking process.
Though Bush is trying to show a neutral image, his trip is seen as a new support for Tel Aviv.
According to Haaretz daily, Israel intends to carry on the Palestinian occupation with the consent of the US, by deploying a military contingent along the eastern border after the future State is established.
Bush’s Middle East tour includes Israel, the West Bank, Kuwait, Bahrain, The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
Iranian authorities have called the trip Bush’s new attempt to interfere in relations among regional States.
