New Delhi, January 11 , SPA — Those who find Tata Motor’s new no-frills Nano minicar a little too spartan can click on the Indian company’s website and create their own customised version, according to dpa.
Virtual options include a range of spoked alloy wheels, go-faster body stripes along with fog lamps, side vents and colour-coded seat covers. The Nano is being touted by Tata as the world’s cheapest car, with a price tag of just 100,000 rupees (2,500 dollars).
The four-door car, which has been designed with the family in mind, can seat up to five people but has no radio, air conditioning or passenger-side mirror and only one windscreen wiper. Tata says it expects to launch more upmarket versions which will cost more.
A 25-question survey on the Tata website asks potential buyers what other options they would like to see made available. These include child-locks to the rear seats and power windows. No prices for such extras are given.
