Mumbai : Leading Indian hotelier the Indian Hotels Co Ltd, owner of the Taj hotels and a Tata group company, will set up a five-star facility in the prestigious Saraya Island resort in Ras Al Khaimah of the United Arab Emirates.
The company signed a hotel operation agreement with Saraya Island Friday. The facility, the sixth five-star destination in the island, will have 180 rooms including suites, 30 bungalows, two restaurants, conference facilities, a spa and health clubs. The first phase is expected to start functioning by 2011.
“The partnership with Taj will provide us with global expertise in hospitality. They will bring the Taj Exotica brand to Ras Al Khaimah. Since the leisure and hospitality are increasing this region, it is important for Taj hotels to be present in this region,” said Madhar Al Tamini, general manager of Saraya Islands.
Raymond N. Bickson, managing director and CEO, The Indian Hotels Company Ltd, said: “We are delighted to partner them. The strategic position of the Saraya Islands between Hajjar range and the Azure Sea of the Arabian Gulf will allow us scope for our luxurious offering.”
The new project comprises four villages and a main village, occupying a five-and-half km long natural island, together forming a picturesque lagoon framed by the islands.
