Abu Dhabi : US President George W. Bush will arrive here Sunday on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of his tour of the Middle East, WAM news agency reported Saturday.
It is the first visit of a sitting US president to the country.
UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed the US President’s visit and praised the existing political, economic, military and cultural ties between the UAE and the US.
He expressed confidence that the visit would open up new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.
During the visit, the US president will hold talks with UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on bilateral cooperation and friendship and the situation in the region.
The US president is also scheduled to deliver a speech at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) and meet members of the US-UAE Business Council, which is a collaboration of leading companies based in the US and UAE.
