Bush: progress, development achieved by the UAE ”wonderful”

ABU DHABI, Jan. 14th, 2008: The UAE has invested and used its oil wealth judiciously, said US President George W. Bush dubbing the progress and development achieved by the UAE as ”wonderful”.

The US president who is in Abu Dhabi for as part of a Middle East tour made his remarks today Monday during a tour of the Masdar Initiative exhibition staged at the Emirates Palace Hotel in the UAE Capital.

He he was briefed on the multi-faceted, multi-billion dollar initiative to develop and commercialize renewable and alternative energy, and clean technology.

Bush was accompanied by General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sultan Al Jaber, CEO of Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar).

Bush expressed hopes that Americans would broaden their knowledge about the UAE.

He thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his commitment to conservation of the environment.

The Masdar initiative reflects Abu Dhabi’s comprehensive investment in future energy solutions and clean technology, from design to research laboratory to mass deployment.

The US president expressed his delight at visiting the UAE as part of his broader tour of the Middle East, saying the trip has provided him with an opportunity to know reality in UAE more closer.

He added the UAE has achieved progress in all areas, in education and renewable and alternative energy in partucular.

For his part, Al Jaber said the US President has pledged to help the UAE’s energy global cooperative platform forge and enhance cooperation with US companies involved in renewable and clean energy.
