Cases of bird flu reported by Government from West Bengal

NEW DELHI, Jan 15 (KUNA) — The Indian government Tuesday confirmed cases of bird flu in two districts of Eastern Indian state of West Bengal. The Indian Health Ministry has confirmed bird flu in South Dinajpur and Birbhum districts of West Bengal in which strains of H5N1 virus were found, the online edition of Indias leading English daily The Times of India reported. The Ministry, however, did not term it as an outbreak of bird flu. More than 0.1 birds have been infected across West Bengal. West Bengal health department has also formed 12 teams, to start rapid culling of the birds if an outbreak is declared. A top official of Indias Animal Husbandry department is visiting the affected areas.
