Gaza : Islamic Hamas movement on Tuesday accused Palestinian security forces of detaining six West Bank residents for what Hamas claimed being of its members.
In a statement sent to the press, Hamas said that the security forces, loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement, “continued cracking down on Hamas members in West Bank and detained6 in Nablus, Hebron and Salfit.”
Meanwhile, Hamas police forces in Gaza detained a colonel of the national security authorities loyal to Abbas, from his house in Gaza city after midnight.
Khouloud Kayyed told reporters that Hamas moved her father, Jamal, to a detention facility known as al-Mashtal in the west of Gaza city.
Hamas chased out pro-Abbas security forces out of the Gaza Strip last June and forcibly took over the coastal enclave. Hamas then deployed its militants to control Gaza security.
Since then, Hamas began to pursue Fatah members in Gaza and Fatah did the same against Hamas in the West Bank.
