Gaza : Palestinian armed groups claimed responsibility on Thursday for firing rockets into Western Negev territories in Israel in response to Israeli military escalation in Gaza Strip.
Ezz el-Deen al-Qassam, the military wing of Islamic Hamas movement, said its fighters shelled Sderot city, a city 1 km away from northeast Gaza Strip, with seven home-made rockets in two rounds of barrage at around 8:00 a.m. (0600 GMT).
Israeli sources said 11 missiles landed in the Western Negev since the morning. A woman was slightly wounded and seven residents suffered from shock.
Israeli media reported that two more people were lightly injured in another barrage with two rockets.
Meanwhile, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades of Fatah movement also claimed responsibility for firing three rockets into Sderot. More than 20 Palestinians were killed in a series of Israeli strikes in Gaza Strip over the past couple of days.
