New Delhi : The Delhi Police Friday filed additional chargesheet against real estate tycoon brother Sushil and Gopal Ansal for tampering with the evidence in the Uphaar fire tragedy case.

Filing the charge-sheet before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate A.K. Kohar, the police pointed fingers at the role of Sushil and Gopal Ansal in tampering with the evidence pertaining to the case.

The case will come up for hearing on Feb 15.

The Delhi High Court May 5, 2006 – on an application filed by the Association of Victims of Uphaar tragedy (AVUT) – had ordered the police to lodge an FIR and investigate the matter thoroughly.

Earlier, a lower court had convicted a court staff, Dinesh Sharma, for tampering with documents, which showed that Ansals were involved in the day-to-day running of the movie hall.

Twelve accused, including Sushil and Gopal Ansal, were convicted by the trial court Nov 20 last year for criminal negligence in the Uphaar theatre fire, which killed 59 people during the screening of a movie June 13, 1997.
