Iskandar, Hee for 3-star Kolkata International Squash

Kolkata : Some of the top squash players from across the world, including Azlan Iskandar and Ong Beng Hee of Malaysia, will be in action in the second Kolkata International Squash Tournament Feb 3-8.

Encouraged by the success in 2005, this year a 3-star event, with US$ 30,000 prize money, has been organised by the club through the Professional Squash Association (PSA) under the aegis of the Squash Rackets Federation of India.

The draw features the top eight Asian players, comprising World Number 15 Azlan Inskandar and Ong Beng Hee (World No 16) from Malaysia, Aamir Atlas (9), Mansoor Zaman (35), Farhan Mehboob (52) and Shahid Zaman (53) from Pakistan and India’s National Champion Saurav Ghosal (47), Ritwik Bhattacharya (61) and wild card Siddharth Suchde.

Three Egyptians — Omar Mossad (World NO 28), Omar Abdel Aziz (39) and Amr Mansi (WR 66) will also make the main draw.

Even the qualifying rounds promise high levels of squash, led by the current British Junior Open champion Mohd. El Shorbagy of Egypt forming a part of the star line-up.

Four qualifiers will join the main draw of 16 players starting Feb 5.
