In its meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor, Professor P K Abdul Azis, the council took several other far-reaching decisions.

The council approved the proposal to hold a “World Summit of AMU Alumni” on October 16, 2008. This program will provide an opportunity to interact with teachers and students of the university and to raise funds for creating international research fellowships and some collaborative research projects involving AMU and other universities and industries from around the world.

It approved opening of four admission test centers at Bhopal (MP), Calicut (Kerala), Kolkata (West Bengal) and Pune (Maharashtra) for holding admission tests for MBBS/BDS, B.Tech./B.Arch., MBA and Class XI/Diploma in Engineering courses from the academic session 2008-09.

The Executive Council has received the status report of the Waqf and other properties of the university and appointed a seven-member committee in the chairmanship of advocate Zafaryab Jeelani to look into the issue and suggest effective measures to retrieve and protect the university properties. The council has decided to approach the Uttar Pradesh government to withdraw its notification regarding the abolition of Zamindari Act that will affect several properties of the university.
