Minimum temperatures drop in northern plains

New Delhi : The northern plains saw a fall in the minimum temperatures by 4-6 degree Celsius while Jammu and Kashmir and northern regions saw widespread snowfall, met office said here Saturday.

The western Himalayan region experienced widespread snowfall under the influence of the western disturbances.

Minimum temperatures have fallen by 4-6 degree Celsius in the northern plains with the onset of northwesterly winds.

The temperatures are likely to fall further by 2-4 degree Celsius in northwest India and 3-5 degree Celsius over adjoining parts of east and central India till Monday.

Ground frost and cold wave conditions are also likely over parts of Punjab, Haryana and north Rajasthan.

The lowest minimum temperature of 1.2 degree Celsius in the plains was recorded at Amritsar in Punjab.
