Cairo : The Arab League declared on Sunday that an urgent meeting would be held for the permanant delegates of the organization on Monday to address the living crisis in Gaza.
Ambassador Ahmad Bin Hale, the secretary general’s assistant for political affairs, said in a statement that the meeting would discuss the escalating brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.
The delegates will ponder possible diplomatic steps in the face of the Israeli practices against the Gazans.
Residents of Gaza are facing possible starvation and lack of fuel as a result of a tight Israeli siege which Israel said it imposed in retaliation for missile attacks from the north of the strip.
Ambassador Hisham Yousef, the head of the secretary general’s bureau, said the league was holding contacts with the Quartet “to make it shoulder its responsibilities toward the conditions in Gaza.” These contacts also involved the United States.
