Delhi Police officer’s son-in-law creates ruckus

New Delhi : A senior Delhi Police official’s son-in-law, adamant on answering the call of nature right outside a well-known restaurant late Sunday in Connaught Place, bashed up the objecting private security guard before giving the Delhi Police a run for their money.

The chain of events in central Delhi unfolded when Daljeet Singh, son-in-law of Assistant Commissioner of Police Surender Pal Singh, accompanied by his friend Sunil Yadav – both unable to control their bladder – chose the ambience of the posh shopping district to relieve themselves outside the restaurant.

The private security guard on job objected to this and asked them to go somewhere else. The duo took strong exception to this and roughed him up. They also threatened him with dire consequences.

The security guard took this the matter to the restaurant owner, Sushil Garg, who was in the restaurant at that time.

Yuvraj, son of Garg caught the duo dining in a nearby restaurant and a scuffle ensued, in which Garg and his wife also were not spared blows.

Garg called up the police control room (PCR) and cops moved in. The duo even resisted the cops and dared them, in the name of the ACP, to book them for any offence. Four other PCR vans moved in before they could overpower the duo.

The two were taken to the Connaught Place police station, but the police did not register a case against them until the mediapersons intervened.

“We have arrested the duo under the sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongfully restraining any person), and 354 (use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC,” said Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat.
