New Delhi : State-owned mining and power generating company Neyveli Lignite Corp Ltd (NLC)’s net profit rose by 33 percent to Rs.2 billion ($50 million) in the third quarter (Oct-Dec) of fiscal 2007-08 compared with the corresponding period last year.
On a year-on-year basis, the company’s total income increased by 27 percent to Rs.8.1 billion ($204 million) in the third quarter.
“The company has posted a net profit of Rs.20.44 billion for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2007 as compared to Rs.15.26 billion for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2006,” said NLC Monday while declaring its third quarterly financial results.
“Total income has increased from Rs.64.28 billion for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2006 to Rs.81.6 billion for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2007,” the company said.
