Kathmandu : The International Labour Organization (ILO) has approved eight new action plans worth $575,291 to combat child labour in Nepal, according to a press release issued by the ILO Friday.
The work is being funded by contributions from the US Department of Labour (USDoL).
Through the programmes, an estimated 9,600 freed bonded child labourers would be given formal education or Out of School Programmes, depending on their age, the press release said. Older children would receive non-formal education and pre-vocational education.
The programmes would also cover functional literacy training, vocational education and group dynamics training for 1,600 freed adult bonded labourers. The projects also support the withdrawal of 3,000 children working as domestic help and would assist their re-integration into their communities.
