Kabul : Afghan insurgents shot down a US helicopter Wednesday in Kherwar district, in Logar province, Pentagon sources reported.
The US military command in Kabul said in the report that the pilots were able to land, and evacuate all passengers before the chopper caught fire.
The release also indicated that five alleged rebels were detained during an operation by US forces in Nad Ali district, in the southern province of Helmand.
Attacks against US and NATO troops, as well as their Afghan collaborators have intensified in the last weeks, particularly in the southern and eastern parts of this territory, with bomb explosions, clashes, and suicide attacks.
