Rashid Khan wins Lalit Suri amateur golf (Lead)

New Delhi : Rashid Khan’s five shot cushion from third round saved him any disaster as he could afford a double bogey and a bogey on 18th to overcome a fighting Chikkarangappa to emerge champion in the Lalit Suri Northern India Junior/Sub-Junior Golf Championship.

Rashid with a final round of 1-under 71 finished with a four-day aggregate of 4-under 284 to complete a back to back victory after his win at the Delhi Golf Club last week.

“I am thrilled to win back to back titles,” said an excited Rashid. “Chikka played well but I was determined to win. Except the last two holes, everything about my game was working quite well.”

Bangalore lad Chikkarangappa, who submitted the day’s best card of 69, had to be content with the second place. However he topped Category `B’.

Vicky Sharma finished third at 295 while Kanishk Madan was fourth at 297. Trishul Chinnappa (Category B) was fifth overall at 302 while Ankur Chadda and Kapil Kumar shared the sixth position at 306.

In a commendable performance, Gurbani Singh overcame the battle of sexes as she emerged the champion by three strokes in Category C.

Honey Baisoya was second at 316 while Vidit Singh was third at 324. Piyush Sangwan won the Category D crown with a 54-hole total f 237 while Viraj Masdappa was runner-up at 240.
