Moderate earthquake hits Philippine capital

Manila : An earthquake of apparently moderate degree was felt in parts of Metro Manila Sunday evening, without causing damage or casualties, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Phivolcs director Renato Solidum Jr. told local radio that initial information said the quake was tectonic in origin.

“So far the reports we got showed it was felt at Intensity 3 in Quezon City (Metro Manila). It was also felt in Manila,” he said in an interview by dzBB radio.

He said that they are still tracing the epicenter of the quake, which he said was recorded at 20:01 local time (1201 GMT).
