Jakarta : The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) granted 15 million U.S. dollars to help conduct general election in Indonesia in 2009, Indonesian Development Planning Ministry said here Wednesday.
The launching of the offer named the Donor Program Support to Indonesia General Election was held in the ministry, signed by Bambang Sutedjo, Deputy for Law Politics and Defense of the ministry and the UNDP Director in Indonesia Hakan Ejorkman.
According to the deputy, the aid aims at helping the programs at the country’s electoral commission, home affairs ministry and the development planning ministry.
“The area of priority includes the efforts to boost capacity building for those conducting the general election, and facilitating and coordinating international grants for the general election,” he said.
Indonesia is to hold the second-direct legislative and presidential election next year.
Thirty four political parties at the level of national and six local parties in Aceh province are to take part in the polls.
