Ghaziabad/New Delhi, July 11 (IANS) Relief was writ large on the faces of the family members of dentist Rajesh Talwar after he was given a clean chit in the murders of his daughter and domestic help and set free by a Ghaziabad court Friday after he spent over 50 days in jail.
His family members believe that Krishna, Talwar’s medical assistant, and Rajkumar, the servant of close family friends Durranis, could be behind the double murders.
Sapna Bakshi, cousin of Dr Talwar, told IANS: “Rajesh Talwar is innocent. We as a family think that Rajkumar and Krishna could be behind the double murders. We firmly believe that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted all necessary tests on them to prove their involvement.”
She strongly denied media reports of a wife-swapping angle as behind the killing of Talwar’s only daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj.
“Our family is a respectable family and all allegations levelled against us are wrong,” Bakshi said.
The CBI Friday gave a clean chit to Talwar and named Krishna alongwith Rajkumar and another servant as behind the May 15 night murders.
The CBI said that Krishna was the prime accused as he harboured ill-feelings towards the family after being scolded by Rajesh Talwar in public. The agency also said that it has been unable to get any evidence against the Talwars in connection with the murders.
Special Magistrate Sapna Mishra Tripathi discharged Talwar after the CBI moved an application under section 169 (release of accused when evidence is insufficient) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
The court set Talwar free after he furnished a personal bond and two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each. He will walk free out of Dasna Jail Saturday.
However, Rajkumar’s lawyer Sanjay Tyagi told reporters that the CBI had taken him as an approver in the case but falsely implicated him.
“Rajkumar was threatened by the CBI to confess to the crime and the evidence was created by it,” Tyagi said.
Aarushi and Hemraaj were found murdered May 16 morning.
Radhika Chaddha, sister-in-law of Nupur Talwar, told IANS: “Yes, we are definitely feeling relieved. I appreciate that the CBI started the work from the beginning even though it took them a little long.”
Lashing out at the Noida police who arrested Talwar May 23, she said: “It was Noida Police who committed the mistake. We wonder how he was arrested in the first place without any evidence. The CBI has tried to solve the case to the best of its ability.”
Rajesh’s brother Dinesh Talwar said: “We are happy that we will be able to take him home and we thank god for this.”
“We were not able to share the pain of Aarushi’s death with him as he was in jail. The pain of Aarushi’s death still engulfs the family,” he said.
