Taiyuan (China) : Rescuers Tuesday recovered 10 bodies from a state-owned coal mine in north China’s Shanxi province after it was flooded Saturday night.
Some 82 colliers were working in the pit when the Wangzhuang mine in Changzhi city was flooded.
Sixty-nine of them managed to escape hours later and another three escaped Monday, the rescue headquarters said.
More than 10,000 cubic metres of floodwater from a mined-out area in the vicinity filled the mine, authorities said.
The mine has an annual capacity of 1.2 million tonnes.
