Islamabad : Nasim Zehra, a senior journalist said on Wednesday that Pakistan wanted Iran’s nuclear issue to be dealt with according to International Atomic Energy Agency regulations.
Talking to IRNA, she said Iran has a right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful means and no body can deny that.
She added that Pakistan has a very principled and honorable stance on the issue; however, there should be a peaceful solution to the Iranian nuclear program.
The journalist said that Pakistan’s stance on Iran’s nuclear program is correct as Pakistan has continuously supported Iran on the issue.
She said that Pakistan is not against Iran’s nuclear program but it should not violate the IAEA and Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty regulations.
Commenting on Pakistan-Iran relations, she said that, obviously the relations of both countries are very important and there is a continued dialogue between the two.
She was of the view that it is because of the close interaction that both the countries are able to reach on IPI gas pipeline project.
Zehra termed Pakistan-Iran relations as good as historically, culturally and geographically they are very close to each other.
She added that both the countries are aware of their position and trying to address the problems they are facing.
She suggested that there should be full relationship between the two countries and that can be in form of trade and security.
She added that the next century would be of the strategic Asia century.
Nasim Zehra said that Iran and Pakistan have common position on US involvement in the region. There must be mechanism to deal the issue, she said.
Expressing her views on the border security problems that both the countries are facing, she said that Iran and Pakistan need to have common goal, they cannot afford a deteriorated border situation.
However, she said that the American angle in the whole situation should be clear.
Both countries want to make the border as free trade zone instead of having security problems, Nasim Zehra said.
She added that Iran and Pakistan are committed to the point that no third county will be allowed to use their territory for damaging the interests of the two countries.
Nasim Zehra completely ruled out the possibility of attack on Iran.
“US is trying to play politics in the region which Israel has driven,” she said She termed the act of the US as a strategy for the forthcoming US presidential elections.
