NEPAL In Presidential Election Process

Katmandu : The process, aimed at electing Nepal president has began here with the ratification of voters’ list from the Constituent Assembly (CA) that will attend Saturday’s vote.

The political parties should have to nominate and present presidential candidates and the CA vice president which names will be officially announced on Thursday at 17:00 local hour.

According to the guidelines approved by the full Constituent Friday is scheduled for every candidate and their supporters make propaganda campaign and CA vote is expected for Saturday.

Meanwhile the three main parties: Maoist Communist (CPN-M), Marxist Leninist Unified Communist (CPN-UML) and the Nepali Congress (NC) are involved in huge talks looking for a proposal by consensus.

The presidential post will be mainly of protocol, constitutional activities while executive powers will be for the prime minister as the main figure of the government, which post will be filled by Pushpa Kamal Dahal as CPN-M leader who won the elections by majority.

But at least until Wednesday midnight a sign of agreement have not been found yet.

The Maoist leadership reiterated that the candidate must be a personality of the civil society and invites the NC and the PCN-UML to share the cabinet.
