New Delhi : Indian qualifier Purav Raja failed to get past his opening round in the Manchester Challenger tennis tournament, losing in straight sets to Czech second seed Pavel Snobel.
Raja, who is placed 892 on Association of Tennis Professional (ATP) singles charts, lost 4-6, 4-6 to 203rd ranked Pavel in the grass court event in Manchester, Wednesday.
Raja, however, stays in contention in the doubles event as he along with his Japanese partner Gouichi Motomura defeated Italian pair Massimo Dell’acqua and Enrico Iannuzzi, 6-1, 6-4.
