Advani: As he said it

By IANS,

New Delhi : From the nuclear deal to terrorism and Sonia Gandhi to the ‘aam aadmi’, Leader of Opposition L.K. Advani Monday touched on a range of issues during his one hour speech on the debate over the trust motion that will decide the fate of the Manmohan Singh government. Some of his more quotable quotes:

*UPA is to blame for the current political crisis.

*Prime Minister Manmohan Singh cannot take a step without Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s approval.

*BJP is not against a strategic relationship with the US, BJP is not against nuclear energy.

*The India-US civil nuclear deal is an unequal agreement.

*Only parliament should decide all issues related to national security issues.

*I agree with the Left on the issue of the nuclear deal.

*I have never seen a government paralysed for so long.

*We are here to defeat the government (in the Lok Sabha) and not to destabilise it.

*The nuclear deal does does not seem between two sovereign countries but between two individuals.

*The UPA, Congress, Sonia Gandhi and the prime minister do not believe in the coalition dharma.

*I have never seen a session like this before where we will discuss whether this minority government should be there.

*We will renegotiate this deal to make it between equal partners. The strategic interests of India should not be compromised.

*The UPA is misusing government institutions to convert its minority into a majority.

*Nothing has been done by the UPA government for the ‘aam aadmi’ and farmers.
